Brush Club's Biodegradable Floss: From Corn to Clean Teeth

Have you ever stopped to wonder what goes into making the floss you use every day? At Brush Club, we’re all about transparency, especially when it comes to our products. That's why we want to give you a behind-the-scenes look into how our biodegradable floss is made. Get ready for a fascinating journey from corn to clean teeth!

The Raw Materials: Why Corn?

Why do we use corn to make our floss, you might ask? Corn is a fantastic renewable resource. It’s widely available, and it’s biodegradable, which means it will naturally break down over time. This makes it a far better choice for our planet than traditional nylon or Teflon-based flosses.

Step One: Preparing the Raw Materials

Before we can make our floss, we have to gather and prepare our raw materials. This starts with corn. But not just any corn will do. We need a specific type of corn that's been specially processed to create PLA (Polylactic Acid), a type of plastic that's biodegradable and derived from plant sugars.

We also need wax. Wax is an essential part of the floss-making process because it helps the floss slide easily between your teeth.

Step Two: From Corn to Floss

Once we have our raw materials ready, we can start the floss-making process. We put our materials into a machine where they are mixed and heated. The heat causes the materials to melt and combine. This melted material is then stretched and formed to create thin strands of floss. This process is similar to spinning yarn or making spaghetti!

Step Three: Finishing Touches

After our floss strands have been formed, we move on to the finishing touches. The strands are cut into the appropriate length for our dental kits. Remember, each floss roll in your kit is a whopping 164' long! Once the floss has been cut, we're almost ready to add it to our kits.

Step Four: Quality Check and Packing

We take quality seriously at Brush Club. Before we pack our floss into our kits, each roll goes through a stringent quality check. We want to make sure every roll of floss is up to our high standards.

Once the floss passes the quality check, it's packed directly into our dental kits. We skip the extra packaging, reducing waste and staying true to our commitment to sustainability.

At Brush Club, we believe that every small step towards sustainability counts. We're proud to provide a product that not only helps you maintain your oral health but also reduces your environmental impact.
